Chinese New Year and Valentines Day

Chinese New Year and Valentines Day

This week we have two very exciting events to look forward to, Chinese New Year tomorrow and Valentines Day on Sunday! Why not celebrate by sending friends and family one of these special cards we’ve created! Choose from either the finished artwork or ones you can colour in yourself, then cut out and stick onto a card! And if you want to take it a step further these cards can be turned into notebook page holders simply by sticking onto card, then elastic. Glue together and create a loop with the elastic, then use as a bookmark as we have below!

Although we will be celebrating the Lunar New Year and Valentines differently this year, there are still plenty of ideas of how to enjoy them. The Lonely Planet have a great selection of ways to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a variety of virtual events. We particularly like the online event from the Smithsonian American Art Museum who will be streaming video performances and demonstrations of traditional Chinese crafts and Lunar New Year traditions today! More details here.

If you’re looking for more crafts to keep little ones busy we love this dragon made from little more than a toilet roll and tissue paper, but it looks so good!

And for those inquisitive kids moms.com have got all the facts and history of Chinese New Year covered here.

For more inspiration check out all the crafts we have at Tender Leaf including how to make your own bouquet of flowers ready to give your special someone on Valentines Day!

The bull shown on the photos is from our very popular and often sold out Stacking Farmyard toy set.
