fun and high quality toy

This is a great, interactive toy for toddlers. My 2 and 3 year old love matching the bugs to their shadows and using them for pretend play. The wood is nicely finished, smooth and splinter free! I paired this item with the Little Wonders book “Bugs” and it was a perfect match for extended play!

Our favorite toy

One of the most beautiful toys. I bought this for her 2nd Christmas and she still plays with it all the time at almost 4. Excited to pass to our second child. Great quality and fun for all of us to play with together.

Very cute toy!

Super cute toy. My daughter loves bugs so we got her “buggy” themed birthday presents and this is a super cute little puzzle/hotel where she can match the bugs to their spots. If the wood quality was a little better I would say 5 stars but it’s just that thin cheap wood but still a great cute toy!

My child is obsessed with this toy

It stated with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. My child became obsessed with caterpillars. Then we read other Eric Carle books and other insects became important, like grasshoppers and lady bugs. So even though this has nothing to do with Eric Carle, I got him this bug hotel. He's in love with it. He carefully places each bug into its storage area, then dumps the whole thing out and tries again. The pieces are a bit small and could be a choking hazard, but you have to know your kiddo...mine mostly seems to be able to handle it, but I do watch him to make sure he doesn't swallow these.

We love all things Tender-Leaf! I was so excited to add this to our "bug-themed" play bins this spring. The quality is great! I love the variety of bugs included in the set and that it has the name of each bug on the back. There are so many ways to use this one set. You can use the bugs in a sensory bin, alongside bug-themed story books, or in a hide-and-seek bug hunt type game. The variety of bugs provide a great way to teach bug vocabulary and work on describing or comparing/contrasting skills.

Beware: This product was shipped with the sticker on the original box. This was annoying as it was to be gifted! Product itself is of good quality, as expected.

An attractive addition to any classroom

We love these well crafted wooden insect pieces. They are a great size for small hands. We use them in our dramatic play area and for theme related insect week. Look forward to using them for years to come.

Zero packaging

It's cute but didn't come in any kind of packaging and sat in the rain for a few hours until I got home. So the toy's original box is water logged and drying wrinkled (making giving it as a gift a little grungy looking now) and the wooden toy sat in a moist environment for long enough to need to be wiped down and to possibly cause some warping of the wooden lid (we are trying to dry it flat currently). I'll upload a picture shortly. I really love this brand, I love their wooden toys.. but it really should be considered that wooden toys need more protection from rain than just the original box. A cardboard shipping box would helped a lot here, just as a first line of defense against water damage.

Sweet Puzzle and Educational

I purchased this puzzle with no reviews, but took the chance because I tend to really like Tender Leaf Toys and especially nature-based toys. This is a sweet little puzzle made entirely of wood and very well made overall. The lid slides on for easy containment and each piece has the name of the bug on the back. My toddler has learned how to match up the bugs with their silhouettes and it's great for vocabulary too. When I have it out on his shelf I accompany it with a bug book. None of the paint has faded. Really happy with the purchase :)
