Wild Pines Train Set

This train set is wonderfully made and painted! The 3.5 year old I'm my life thinks it's the best thing ever. He changes up the track layout and all the pieces, really using his imagination as he plays. I will be adding all the accessories that complement the set. I'm thankful to have found such beautiful and well-made wood toys. They are truly heirloom quality.

This train set is completely adorable! I especially love the bears, lake and trees and the soft colors. The smaller log pieces will have to be set aside for later if you have young toddlers, but older kids will love the added fun of arranging the various sized pieces on the cars and delivering wood to the cabin. It does take practice to figure out how to arrange the logs to prevent them falling out when going uphill, and I wish all of the cars had been designed to prevent this issue. The largest, two-piece logs work perfectly in the gray flatbed train car if you stagger the 2 log pieces slightly. On the truck flatbeds, it’s possible to wedge either 2 or 4 long, thin logs in snugly enough to manage hills, but a child may have trouble doing so (The long, thin logs are actually 2 different sizes). Be advised that the crane doesn’t adjust enough to properly lift the logs to and from the cars, and the magnets on the crane are always sticking together (I chose to purchase another crane to use with the set instead). But it’s still a 5 star set for me - it’s both beautiful and fun!
